Okonomiyaki is said to be Japanese-style pizza, I don't know why it is nothing like pizza. This recipe makes Osaka-style okonomiyaki. There are lots of toppings. However, you don’t need to add all the toppings.

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon baking powder
4 tablespoons flour
1/6 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons water
1 egg
½ cup chopped green onion
2-3 strips cooked bacon cut into small pieces
¾ cup shredded cabbage
A few prawns

Brown Okonomiyaki Sauce (can be expensive outside of Japan--in NZ it is $12; in Japan it is $1--but the taste is well worth it) Lee told me, after asking him if this sauce was available in the United States, that it was available here and would probably be located  in the Asian food aisle of the grocery.

Or, as a substitute for Okonokiyaki sauce, combine:
3 tablespoons ketchup
1 teaspoon Soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Okonomiyaki Toppings:

1 tablespoon Mayonnaise
Aonori (dried green seaweed) and dried bonito shavings (to taste) -- I never add this.

Preparation:

Combine the flour, salt, and baking powder and slowly mix in the water.
Next, add all the remaining ingredients and mix them together thoroughly.
Heat the griddle (or frying pan) and lightly oil. Spoon the okonomiyaki mixture on the griddle and spread it into a round shape about 1.2 to 1.5 cm thick.
When air bubbles start to rise in the middle of the okonomiyaki, turn it over with a spatula and fry the other side until done. It takes about 5- 7 minutes.
Spread the sauce over the okonomiyaki, top with mayonnaise if you like.
Sprinkle on the aonori and dried bonito -- this is optional.

ENJOY!

In Darkness We Play – Review by Martha A. Cheves, Author of Stir, Laugh, Repeat

The Vampire

To feel the pain
Of teeth, as sharp as steel
Slice through your vein
The pain and anguish
One cannot feel
You are a mere mortal
Think we are wrong
That we should be extinguished
Put out for good.
What makes you a mortal
Think we are of a lower grade of life?
You kill for sport
We kill for food
Death is death
Blood is blood
Give it to me
Before I hunt.
To die during the day
And live at night
To age only a year in every decade
And never die…
But mind you I don’t mind
When I fly over your heads
High up in the sky
Give me your blood
And Join me in my life
And when you know what it’s like
You’ll lie in wait
For the sun
To turn to dust
A ‘chicken’ way out Live undead
And die unalive.
For all eternity
Time will tell
If you are sick or well
And when you decide…
Farewell
